Apply now to the Atmospheric Science Graduate Program

**It is not possible for us to waive any of the requirements listed below** 

In order to be considered for admission to the graduate program in the Department of Atmospheric Science, the following documents are required. Please submit to the address below.

__ Complete the on-line application http://www.uwyo.edu/admissions/graduate/ .

__ Official transcripts from all post-secondary schools attended.

__ Three letters of recommendation from persons familiar with your abilities which address your aptitude for graduate work in Atmospheric Science (see note below).

__ Official GRE - Graduate Record Examination -- scores (School code for UW is 4855).  A required minimum of 900 for the Master's program and 1000 for the PhD program.

__ A narrative statement of research interests and career goals. If you have no previous degree or experience in atmospheric science, explain your motivation for choosing our program. It is advised that you first contact the Graduate Coordinator, Prof. Terry Deshler (deshler@uwyo.edu), or any other faculty member (http://www.atmos.uwyo.edu/faculty/index.shtml), to discuss your research interests and learn about specific opportunities.

__ Copies of or links (URLs preferred, especially if large) to papers (published, in review, or in preparation), reports, theses, etc. that you authored or co-authored. This will help us establish your aptitude for graduate work.

__ Application fee payment (you can use same link for on-line application above to pay fee). You may request to delay in paying the application fee until we have done a preliminary review of your material. Application is not official until fee is paid, however.

__ Apply for a Graduate Assistantship (see http://uwadmnweb.uwyo.edu/uwgrad/info.asp?p=2241 . Typically, successful students are awarded Graduate Assistantship, but applicants must apply.

Note: We will accept applications from students with undergraduate or advanced degrees in a physical science or engineering discipline showing competence in calculus (through Calc III) and college physics. An undergraduate degree in atmospheric science or meteorology which although significant is not required.

All international applicants from non-English speaking countries must also provide:

__ Official TOEFL examination scores (School code for UW is 4855). A minimum score of 540 on the written exam, 207 on the computerized exam, or 76 on the Internet-based test is required for full admission. We will also accept official IELTS scores. A minimum score of 6.0 is required for full admission.
