Wyoming King Air Research Aircraft

The UW King Air was acquired in 1977.

The Department operates a research aircraft which is equipped with sophisticated meteorological instrumentation and a computer-directed data display system. The King Air twin turboprop is used extensively in many of the Department's research projects to obtain in-situ atmospheric measurements. The aircraft is funded through a cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation as a national facility to serve the entire atmospheric community. The King Air has participated in a variety of projects worldwide, ranging from relatively small-scale investigations to large, multi-institutional collaborative efforts.

Our Queen Air was operated from 1971-1981.

The Wyoming King Air research aircraft is equipped with instrumentation for cloud physics, mesoscale dynamics, and atmospheric chemistry research. The King Air has participated in a variety of projects worldwide, ranging from relatively small-scale investigations to large, multi-institutional collaborative efforts.

Our first aircraft was a Twin-Beech (C-45) acquired in 1965.
