General advice to prospective students in Atmospheric Science

It is your responsibility to decide if:

1)      Your educational preparation meets the departmental requirements of an undergraduate or advanced degree in a physical science or engineering discipline showing competence in college physics and calculus through partial differential equations and multiple integrals. An undergraduate degree in atmospheric science or meteorology, although significant, is not required.

2)      Your interests align with the expertise of faculty in the department. See the links for each faculty member, http://www.uwyo.edu/atsc/faculty/, as well as the general link to the department’s home page, http://www-das.uwyo.edu/, for descriptions of current research opportunities. Broadly speaking we are a physical meteorology group. We complete a broad suite of air-borne physical measurements related to air flow, air chemistry, and aerosol, cloud, and precipitation processes.

General review of applicants for acceptance in the fall begins in late January, early February, and offers are usually finalized in late April. Only completed applications will be reviewed. Applications are reviewed on a competitive basis. I wish you luck in your future education.

Sincerely,

Terry Deshler
Professor of Atmospheric Science
